Administration

City Administrator Scott Neilson is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city and for implementing the City Council's policies and actions. The Administrator oversees city staff and coordinates the responsibilities of the departments, including:

  • Budgeting
  • Building, zoning, planning, development, and code enforcement
  • Operation of the water, sewer, and storm sewer utilities;
  • Parks maintenance
  • Public safety services, such as fire protection and ambulance response services

Mahtomedi contracts with the Washington County Sheriff's Department for police services.

City Consultants

The City Administrator also oversees the work of the City’s consultants, including the City Attorney, City Engineer, and City Planner.
