1. Do dogs require licenses?

Dogs are required to have a license. Download the Dog License Application (PDF). A certificate of rabies vaccination is required. License your dog at Mahtomedi City Hall. Cats do not need to be licensed.

2. Do you allow kennels?

Kennels are not permitted in the City of Mahtomedi.

3. Do you have a leash law?

All dogs and cats are required to be on a leash when off of the owner's property. Please be a considerate neighbor by cleaning up after your pet!

4. How many dogs are allowed?

You can have up to six animals in your home, which may include a combination of both dogs and cats.

5. Who do I call if I have problems with a non-domesticated animal?

Residents experiencing problems with non-domesticated animals such as rodents should call a pest control company for removal of the nuisance.

6. Who do I call if my pet is lost?

Call Otter Lake Animal Care at 651-426-8871 to inquire about a lost dog or cat that may have been picked up.

7. Who do I call to report a dead/sick animals on a city street?

Public Works only removes dead deer from roadways or city right-of-ways. Call 651-773-9730 to report a dead deer only.
